Bash On Wabash
Bash on Wabash will cap off summer fest season with a bang August 23rd and 24th. The South Loop’s premier outdoor event marks 11 years of bringing neighbors and businesses together to celebrate the beauty, creativity, history and culture of the hood. Located in the heart of the South Loop on Wabash Avenue between 13th and 14th Place, the 2014 edition of The Bash offers something for everyone, from non-stop live music, local restaurants, arts & crafts, vendor row and a family area that Red Tricycle recently called one of Chicago’s best.
“What started out as a group of neighbors getting together in the early days of the South Loop’s development has become the neighborhood’s quintessential annual event,” says Jeanette Johnson, President of The Greater South Loop Association. “The Bash showcases the best of our community in a positive, entertaining atmosphere.”
Benefiting the Greater South Loop Association, The Bash mirrors the South Loop’s diversity, featuring a wide variety of choices. Sangria at this year’s Bash on Wabash is sponsored and prepared by M Lounge, a South Loop martini lounge offering live music Tuesday through Saturday. The Sangria is made from the same recipe served at The Bash for the last five years and was the winner of the South Loop’s Favorite Sangria contest six years ago. Available in red, white or mixed, it’s a refreshing break on a nice summer day.
The Music
Live music at The Bash features original bands throughout the weekend – everything from touring headliners to cutting-edge local acts. The wave 1 lineup is as follows (additional musicians to be announced in subsequent release):

The Bash also boasts an elaborate family fun zone with carnival games, magicians, bounce houses, and a music and entertainment stage targeted for young ones. Sponsored by First American Bank, the area will include: B.I.G. Baseball Academy, Sod Room, Lango, historical crafts by Glessner House and Clarke House, plus a book reading by Tia Meredith, and more!
The Beneficiary
The Greater South Loop Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit community association comprised of an alliance of residents focused on the overarching mission to maintain and improve the South Loop as a vibrant and diverse, inclusive community. One of the ways the GSLA achieves this mission is through its regular event calendar and neighborhood street fest, Bash on Wabash, to bring South Loop neighbor’s together.
The Fine Print
The Bash hours of operation are 11:30 am to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There is a $5 suggested donation for admittance.
