In celebration of Labor Day, Southport & Irving (SIP) offers classic cocktail specials August 29-31, adds free live music on Friday, August 29 from 7-10 p.m., and opens during the day on Monday, September 1, offering a la carte brunch service and drink deals from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. SIP will not offer dinner service on Labor Day (Monday, September 1), and will not offer the 21-percent neighborhood discount normally offered Monday nights.

Beverage director Ardit Dizdari’s classic cocktail menu features recipes culled from the “The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book 1935,” a bar guide/recipe book of pre-prohibition cocktails popularized after prohibition at New York’s iconic Waldorf-Astoria. SIP features $6 Volstead Act Cocktails and a Classic Cocktail List (prices range from $9-$13) Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31 at both dinner and weekend brunch. The specials will be offered in addition to the regular cocktail list.

In celebration of its first summer in West Town, Bow & Stern Oyster Bar is hosting an authentic crawfish boil on Labor Day weekend with live music, beer specials, and all-you-can-eat crawfish fixings. Executive chef Brian Greene is boiling fresh, live crawfish – direct from Louisiana – for the special occasion. For $30 per person, it’s all-hands-on-deck for endless peel and eat crawdads along with their traditional boil counterparts corn on the cob and red potatoes. Featured beer Abita will be poured at discounted prices while The Royal Hustlers Brass Band and Brother John Kettke round out the Big Easy vibe. Reservations are required by calling 312.988.0644.

High Noon Saloon, which normally opens at 4 p.m. on weekdays, opens at 11 a.m. Monday, September 1 for Labor Day brunch service and offers all days drink deals such as $4 Half Acre drafts, $3 Old Crow bourbon whiskey shots, $3 Casa Noble tequila blanco shots, $5 bloody marys and $3 mimosas.  Monday night team trivia, which is hosted by High Noon Saloon and Whaddayaknow Free Pub Trivia Chicago, starts at 8 p.m. with prizes for the top teams and no fee to play. Brunch is served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the regular menu is on offer from 11 a.m.-1 a.m., and the bar is open until 2 a.m. September 1.
